Our Myopia Control Solutions

MiyoSmart Lenses ($449 Complete Pair)

MiyoSmart lenses are specially designed glasses that use D.I.M.S. technology to slow down myopia progression in children by creating a defocus effect that controls eye growth.

Key Benefits:

  • Reduces myopia progression by up to 60%.
  • Comfortable to wear, similar to regular glasses.
  • Available in a range of frames for all activities.

MiSight Soft Contact Lenses

MiSight lenses are daily disposable contacts designed to reduce myopia progression by up to 59% when used regularly, offering a non-surgical option for children who prefer not to wear glasses.

Key Benefits:

  • Convenient daily wear; no need for maintenance.
  • Ideal for active children, providing clear vision.
  • Clinically proven to effectively slow myopia progression.

Atropine Eye Drops

Atropine eye drops are a low-dose medication that helps slow myopia progression in children. At City Optics, we offer various dosages to suit different needs, including 0.01% atropine (Eikance), which is most commonly used due to its balance of effectiveness and minimal side effects.

Available Dosages:

  • 0.01% Atropine (Eikance): Reduces myopia progression by around 50% with minimal side effects.
  • 0.025% and 0.05% Atropine: More effective, reducing progression by up to 77% at 0.05%, but may cause light sensitivity and difficulty reading up close. Requires compounding at select pharmacies.

Lifestyle Modifications

Lifestyle changes can also help manage myopia progression, such as increasing time spent outdoors and taking regular breaks from screens.

Key Tips:

  • Spend at least two hours outdoors daily.
  • Follow the 20-20-20 rule for screen breaks.
  • Ensure good lighting during reading and study.

Other Myopia Control Options

Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) Lenses
Note: We do not currently offer Ortho-K lenses at City Optics.

Ortho-K lenses are specially designed rigid contact lenses worn overnight to temporarily reshape the cornea. While highly effective for controlling myopia and offering clear daytime vision without glasses or lenses, Ortho-K requires careful fitting and regular monitoring by a specialized clinic.

If you are interested in Ortho-K, we recommend consulting with a practice that specializes in this treatment.
