Multipurpose Contact Lens Solution

A multipurpose solution is the simplest way to care for reusable soft lenses. One bottle handles cleaning, rinsing, disinfecting and storage, so there is less to carry and remember — which makes it a popular everyday choice and an easy travel companion.

We stock trusted names including Renu, Biotrue, Opti-Free and ACUVUE RevitaLens. Order online for delivery across Australia, or talk to our optometry team about the formula best suited to your lenses.

How multipurpose solutions work

Multipurpose formulas combine a cleaner, a rinse and a disinfectant in one liquid. You rub and rinse each lens, then store it submerged in fresh solution, where it disinfects ready for your next wear. It is designed for daily use with reusable soft lenses such as fortnightly and monthly wear, and it keeps lens care to a single, simple step.

The brands we stock

Our range includes Renu Fresh and Renu Sensitive, Biotrue in travel and value sizes, Opti-Free PureMoist, Complete EasyRub and ACUVUE RevitaLens. Each has its own formula and added wetting agents, so if one solution has felt drying in the past, another may feel more comfortable — and travel packs are handy for keeping a spare in your bag.

Who they may suit

Multipurpose solutions suit most reusable soft lens wearers who want a straightforward, single-bottle routine. They are widely available and simple to use, though the right formula can vary from person to person — your optometrist can help you match one to your lenses and eyes.

Getting the best results

For a thorough clean, rub and rinse each lens even when the label says no-rub, use fresh solution every time, and never top up yesterday’s solution. Empty and air-dry your case daily, and replace it regularly to keep things hygienic. Storing lenses in fresh solution for the time stated on the pack lets the disinfectant do its job.

Using it safely

Never rinse or store lenses in tap water or saliva, and do not let the bottle tip touch your fingers, lenses or eye. If a solution ever stings or your eyes feel irritated, remove the lens and check with your optometrist before continuing.

Sensitive eyes

If multipurpose solution stings or feels drying, a sensitive formula may help, or a preservative-free hydrogen peroxide system may suit you better. Compare both in our full contact lens solutions range, and remember that saline alone does not disinfect.

Travel and value sizes

Most multipurpose lines come in more than one size. Compact travel bottles are designed to meet carry-on liquid limits and are handy for a weekend bag, while value and twin packs keep regular wearers stocked up and usually work out more economical over time. Whichever size you choose, always check the use-by date and discard solution that is past it — an opened bottle does not last indefinitely.

Comfort between wears
